CocoRosie is one of those bands that takes you on a journey through soundscapes rarely heard in modern alternative music. They continue the trend of weaving in influences from all over the world in Tales of a Grass Widow, except there is one stark difference. In Grey Oceans the majority of the album was ethereal with it’s heavy Chinese musical influences and haunting tones, which felt like I was entering a mad carnival, but this album feels as though I’m entering a lush forest of looped beats masterfully layered with natural tones and entrancing vocals. Every CocoRosie album is an experience into otherworldly territory.
