If you ask most people about which musical genre Primal Scream fit into they’ll probably think of the electro-psychedelic post rave come-down music from their seminal 1991 album ‘Screamadelica’. This was their big breakthrough and an absolute classic I listen to regularly.

There is however a whole other soulful side to the band which is little known. Their follow up to Screamadelica was ‘Give Out But Don’t Give Up’ and was a critical and commercial disaster that almost broke up the band. It was a strange mish-mash of rock, funk & soul I absolutely loved it.
